Economic Relief for Oklahomans

  • Make the child tax credit permanent.

  • Revise trade policy for agricultural products to reduce the consumer cost of grocery items.

  • Enforce and expand price-gouging laws on gasoline to include not only retailers but also oil producers.

  • Expand usury laws to limit credit card companies’ ability to charge high interest rates.

Labor and Working Families

  • Pass federal maternity and paternity leave.

  • Raise the minimum wage to at least $15 per hour.

  • Implement federal minimums for sick leave/PTO.

  • Pass the PRO Act which would ensure and expand protections for employees’ rights to organize and collectively bargain in their workplace. We need to bust Trusts and strengthen our Unions.

  • Pass national paid family leave of up to 10 weeks that would extend to union and non-union members alike.

Access to Affordable Housing

  • Exclude federal student loans from debt-to-income ratio for the purposes of mortgage qualification.

  • Address zoning ordinances to ensure the availability of single-family homes.

  • Because so many young people are employed through contract pay, we must streamline the process for income verification, including but not limited to including rental history as proof ability to pay.

  • Establish interest caps on single-family residences that qualify for a homestead exemption or for a first-time homebuyer.

  • Limit annual rental increases for entities which own more than 5 single-family residences or more than 2 duplex or four-plex residences.

  • Replicate the provisions of the Rural Development Single Family Housing Programs to cover down payment assistance for urban and suburban single-family homes.

Women’s Rights

  • Codify rights provided in Roe v. Wade to ensure access to abortion and maternity care.

  • Make birth control available over the counter for $10 or less and covered 100% with health insurance, including expanding Medicaid to cover all forms of birth control.

  • Work to eliminate rape-kit backlogs to help women get the justice they deserve.

  • Guarantee access to pre- and post-natal care as part of health care, including expanding Medicaid to cover post-natal health care.

  • Ensure equal pay for equal work.

  • Eliminate the gender wage gap.

  • Extend the deadline for ratification of the ERA.

Expanding Healthcare Access

  • Create a single-payer option through the expansion of Medicaid.

  • Increase funding for and guarantee access to mental health services.

  • Expand access to health care in rural Oklahoma and incentivize medical professionals to practice in rural areas.

  • Reign in the insurance monopoly to increase competition in the industry and reduce prices for those who wish to obtain private insurance coverage.

  • Place a cap on insulin prices.

  • Allow Medicare and Medicaid to negotiate prices for all health care services.

  • Expand enforcement of hospital price and quality transparency requirements for patients.

Honoring Our Military

  • Oppose any efforts to reduce military pay and cuts to health care and housing.

  • Ensure that pay and benefits keep pace with the private sector and cost of living.

  • Expand access to federal grants for military students and children of fallen service members.

  • Crack down on predatory loans offered to active duty and veteran service members.

  • Guarantee childcare for children of active-duty service members.

  • Properly fund Veterans Affairs services and hospitals.

  • Expand VA’s reach in rural areas.

  • Build and strengthen VA’s mental health care services.

Public and Higher Education

  • Pass federal student loan forgiveness up to $50,000 for undergraduate and an additional $50,000 for graduate degrees.

  • Cap interest rates on student loans.

  • Improve funding equity for K-12 public schools.

  • Pass universal Pre-K.

  • Restore the 40% funding threshold promised in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

  • Invest in school infrastructure for repairs and building maintenance and upgrades.

  • Restore and expand the function of the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights to fight discrimination in public schools.

Rural Oklahoma

  • Expand broadband access to all corners of the state and Nation.

  • Improve opportunities for and strengthen family farms to reduce the need to sell out to corporate operations.

  • Rebuild rural health care infrastructure and bring more medical professionals to rural areas.

  • Protect federal funding for rural public schools and oppose any effort to divert money from rural public schools to urban or suburban private schools.

  • Increase funding for rural roads so agricultural producers can get their goods to market.

  • Work with Tribal Nations to develop rural economies.

LGBTQIA2S+

  • Introduce and pass the Equality Act in the Senate.

  • Pass the Respect of Marriage Act in the Senate.

  • Pass a federal ban on conversion therapy.

  • Limit Title IX waivers for universities that suspend students for being LGBTQIA2S+.

  • Ban federal contractors and sub-contractors from discriminating against LGBTQIA2S+ employees.

  • Improve access to resources for school staff and counselors to support LGBTQIA2S+ students.

  • Require healthcare providers to cover gender-affirming care.

  • Improve access to resources for unhoused LGBTQIA2S+ youth.

  • Expand hate crime laws to include gender and sexual identity.

Climate and Energy

  • Implement carbon capture policies as a short-term solution to the climate crisis.

  • Diversify the energy industry to include fossil fuels and renewable energy, ensuring our nation is truly energy efficient and independent. 

  • The federal government should facilitate and fund job training programs to make sure people can smoothly transition into new, high-skilled, higher-paying jobs.

  • Ensure equitable implementation of renewable power generation by coordinating with local leaders. This will avoid preventable crises like the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) flooding homes in Eastern Oklahoma.

  • Given recent attacks on the EPA by our extremist Supreme Court, strengthen the EPA’s enforcement power.

  • Return focus to the Tar Creek Superfund Site, the largest superfund site in the nation. Empower local leaders with the resources and tools they need to reclaim and restore our environment.

Gun Reform

  • Raise the age to purchase a firearm to 21 years old.

  • Require universal background checks on all firearms purchases.

  • Close the gun show, estate sale, and boyfriend loopholes.

  • Implement a three-day waiting period for new firearms purchases.

  • Restrict the amount of ammunition that can be purchased over a certain time period.

  • Reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban.
